Are New Age Healers Really Healing You?

Entering the New Age can feel like an exciting adventure. You're introduced to an unseen world that once felt out of reach. For me, it began with simple stretches, joint exercises, and meditations that left me feeling calm, peaceful, and more “in tune.” I felt energy circulating through my body—at times, I even saw energy with my own eyes. I witnessed spiritual phenomena and experienced energy healing sessions that seemed, at least on the surface, to bring real benefit.

Eventually, I became a practitioner myself. Over the years, I performed hundreds of energy healing sessions using acupressure and intuitive techniques to move energy and promote what I believed was healing.

As time passed, I shifted my approach. I became less interested in creating dependence on my healing work and began focusing on "empowerment sessions"—guiding clients to tune into their own bodies, recognize how emotions were stored physically, and learn to process those emotions on their own. My intention was to help people heal themselves.

Later, I was certified in Reiki—which involves conscious channeling—and I practiced Qigong, a movement-based method aimed at opening the body's meridian channels. Both of these practices made me feel better, or so I thought at the time.

But then I began to ask: What is really going on here?

Who—or What—is the Healer?

Even a quick online search will tell you that an energy healer is “a conduit or channel for healing energy, rather than the direct source of healing.” The belief is that this energy—often called “universal life force,” “qi,” or “prana”—flows through the practitioner into the recipient.

It sounds beautiful, even sacred. And I can’t deny that people often report real benefits—I had plenty of testimonials myself.

But here’s the issue: if the healer is only a “channel,” then who or what is the actual source of the healing energy? This is where things get murky. Most energy healers, if they continue on a journey of self-discovery, eventually encounter this unsettling truth: they are not the ones doing the healing.

And the New Age has an answer ready: “It’s the universal life force.” But let me be clear—

Universal Life Force Is Not God

The New Age teaches that healing comes from a vague, impersonal energy—often called universal life force, qi, or prana. This concept may sound spiritual, but it’s a counterfeit. It replaces the personal, holy, and sovereign God of the Bible with a neutral force that can supposedly be controlled, directed, or channeled by human will.

But Scripture is clear:

Jeremiah 10:6 – “No one is like you, Lord; you are great, and your name is mighty in power.”
Exodus 20:3 – “You shall have no other gods before me.”

The idea of a universal force we can tap into undermines the sovereignty and holiness of God. It also removes accountability—turning healing into a technique instead of a divine act of mercy. Nowhere in Scripture do we see God portrayed as a vague energy. He is a personal God who heals according to His will, not ours.

Isaiah 42:8 – “I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols.”
1 John 4:1 – “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

This verse is especially relevant. When someone says they are “channeling energy” or that a healing presence is “flowing through them,” we must ask: what spirit is behind it? If it is not the Holy Spirit, then it is something else—and that something may be dangerous. And, they may also be dangerous later, many months or years after they have fully "hooked" you.

2 Corinthians 11:14-15 – “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness.”

What feels like healing may be a deception meant to draw us further from God. The enemy is clever—offering counterfeits that mimic peace, healing, and light, but without the truth, holiness, and authority of Jesus Christ. We want to see evil as clearly and obviously dark, but the Bible warns us that light can also be used in dark ways.

The Evil One Can Be Appealing

Looking back, I noticed something odd. After receiving healing, people would often express deep gratitude—not just for the relief they felt, but toward me as the practitioner. I was often seen as someone “special” or gifted. At the time, I found it flattering. But now, I see how manipulative and alluring that dynamic was.

Could it be that something—or someone—was trying to draw people in through this false light?

Scripture warns us repeatedly about deception:

James 1:14-15 – “But each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”

Temptation often appears attractive. The enemy doesn’t always show up as a nightmare—sometimes he appears as a comforting presence or a “positive” force. And when people look to healers with awe or dependency, it’s worth asking: what spirit is really behind that admiration?

Or Maybe They're Just Charlatans

There’s another uncomfortable truth. Not all so-called "healers" are spiritual. Some are simply skilled manipulators. Some are actually both.

Many will boldly claim they can heal you—then immediately fill your mind with dark, fear-based stories about curses, “attachments,” or soul contracts you never asked for. They may suggest you have past-life trauma, ancestral blockages, or "energetic parasites" only they can remove. These tactics are designed to make you feel broken, dependent, and in need of their special help.

Then comes the kicker—they’ll charge you hundreds, sometimes thousands, for “clearing” or “initiations.” You become their spiritual project. And if their techniques don’t work or you start questioning the results, they gaslight you. They’ll say you’re not ready, you’re not open enough, or you don’t have the right frequency. Eventually, they hit a wall—and place the blame on you.

Are New Age Healers Really Trying to Help You?

I once encountered a man who wrote an entire mystical blog about something he called the “Rose Order.” It was elaborate, full of spiritual language and secret wisdom. But as I entered into maybe the 5th session with him, he conveniently told me I wasn’t part of that order. Looking back, I see it for what it was: a power play. A manipulation tactic to establish spiritual superiority and keep me small. This is common—many healers seek to elevate themselves by making you feel “less than.”

And the tragic part? They are often gaining more from you than you’re gaining from them—emotionally, spiritually, and financially.

Jeremiah 17:5 – “This is what the Lord says: Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord.”

New Age healing often encourages people to put their trust in man—whether in a guru, healer, or channeled being. But Scripture tells us plainly: do not trust in man—trust in God alone.

Psalm 118:8 – “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.”

If someone claims to have special power to heal you—but requires your submission, your money, and your admiration in return—that is not healing. That is manipulation.

The True Healer: Jesus Christ

If you’ve been disillusioned by New Age healing or left spiritually drained by those who promised freedom but delivered confusion, I want to encourage you: there is a better way. You don’t need a healer, a guru, or a mystical system to find peace, wholeness, and true healing. You need a relationship with the one true God—the God who made you, knows you, and loves you.

Unlike the false promises of the New Age, God doesn't demand endless payments, rituals, or secret knowledge. He invites you into a relationship built on grace, truth, and love—through faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the True Healer
Jesus is the True Healer
John 14:6 – “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

Jesus is not just a wise teacher or enlightened being—He is the Savior. He is the only one who can cleanse, restore, and reconcile your soul to God. When you place your trust in Him, the burden of trying to fix or elevate yourself disappears. You are no longer striving to reach higher realms—you are simply coming home to your Creator.

Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

He knows every wound, every deception, every mistake—and He still chose the cross. Not to shame you, but to save you. That is real healing.

Matthew 11:28 – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

If you’ve been chasing healing, rest, or answers in all the wrong places, Jesus offers you the peace your soul is truly longing for. Lay down the counterfeit. Open your heart to Him. There is no special initiation, no secret knowledge—just a simple, sincere “yes” to God’s love and truth.

🕊️Salvation Prayer

If you feel the tug on your heart to leave behind deception and begin a relationship with the one true God, you can pray this prayer in faith:

“Heavenly Father, I know that I have sinned and gone my own way. I’ve searched for healing, peace, and truth in places that have led me away from You. But today, I turn to You. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, that He died on the cross for my sins, and rose again so that I could have eternal life. I repent of my sins and receive Your forgiveness. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord and Savior, and lead me in Your truth. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and teach me to walk in Your ways. I surrender my life to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

If you prayed that prayer, welcome to the family of God. Start reading the Bible, talk to God daily, and connect with a Christ-centered community. You’re not alone—He is with you now and always. 🙏
